LORENZA BASTIDAS
Lorenza Bastidas is a well-known wood carver from Bocono, small country town in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela. There is a tradition in Venezuela of Folk Art Wood Carving, and many artists work in isolation without ever seeing one another's creations. Their work however is highly regarded in their country and exhibited widely in museums and galleries. Much of it is of a religious nature. Lozenza Bastidas died in 2004.
