Michail Raznnikov
Michail Rzannikov first started to appreciate color and texture while working in a Russian textile factory at the age of 13. However, he did not actually begin to make art until he was in his 40s, in the early 1970s. Putting textiles and painting together, he painted his first picture after a bet. His wife bet him that he could not reproduce the picture on their bedsheet! This launched his desire to continue to paint.
Rzannikov lives in the Russian Urals, the mountainous area between Europe and Asia. As a result, his art depicts nature in small “windows” of rural life and Russian landscape. His most remarkable features are the depth and richness of color and attention to detail. All of his paintings are densely textured with paint, and in a primitive fashion, show the specifics of the world around him.
Rzannikov has been widely shown in group and solo exhibitions throughout Russia.
