Irina Medvedeva Irina Medvedeva was born in Galustova, Russia in 1963. She is the daughter of Katja Medvedeva, a very famous Russian naïve artist. Her painting exhibits intense, rich color, and is poetic in nature. The simple movement and balance in her work is reminiscent of Marc Chagal. Throughout her young adult life, Medvedeva has struggled with drug and substance abuse and receives regular care in a psychiatric hospital. Despite her struggles, she still is able to produce some of Russia's most appealing contemporary work.
